I have always been one to make plans - mighty ones at that. Get into veterinary college - get married by 25 - have kids by 28.
Never make any plans unless you are willing to have God change them and never pray unless you are willing to accept God's answer.
I was born into a Catholic family and always loathed Christians (read born again believers). I never planned to go to any other church besides my own. As God would have it, many years later he drew me to a Christian church. Never undermine His plans.
At this stage in my life I wouldn't call myself a Christian, I'm still a catholic - who plays the keyboard in church every Sunday and is very committed to the choir and church. But I do go to a Christian church too. I don't doubt either church's ability to bring me closer to God. A church can sometimes be a community that "aids" your relationship with God. But nothing, nothing can ever beat your personal relationship with God.
I'm somewhere in the middle. But being in the middle has its ups and downs too. My Catholic friends would jokingly say "Oh so now you belong to the 'Praise The Lord' cult" while my Christian ones would say "You heathen! Thank Jesus you are 'saved'". While they may never mean malice, it's sad to see that somewhere while growing up we were told this about each other's ways of worshiping.
Yes! I call it 'a way of worshipping'. Because our God is the same, but how we worship Him is different. Before Jesus died on the cross, did he say I'm going to die only for the Catholics or Christians? No! We are all God's children. He died for you and for me. He has carved you on the palm of his hand - never forget that!
